Natural Health Products Week

The second annual NHP Week was a resounding success on all fronts. Thank you to those who participated with so much enthusiasm. It is thanks to our active members that our annual public awareness campaign was such a tremendous success. In total, 45 CHFA members celebrated NHP Week in nearly 100 stores in all nine provinces, representing an incredible growth in participation from the first NHP Week.

Throughout NHP Week we reached out to consumers with educational messages to raise awareness and shine a spotlight on natural health products, their benefits and the important impact they have for those living a healthy lifestyle.

We secured interviews for our spokespeople, Lianne Phillipson-Webb and Sherry Torkos, in breakfast and lifestyle programs in major cities across the country, including BT TorontoCTV VancouverBT CalgaryCTV OttawaCHCH Hamilton and CTV Kitchener-Waterloo. We were also featured on the popular lifestyle program Cityline. Sherry and Lianne presented The Canadian Family’s Guide to Navigating Natural Health by challenging Canadians to make natural changes that would benefit the whole family. They also showcased dozens of our members’ excellent products and were extremely effective at delivering our positive and educational messages to over two million Canadians, all across the country.

We also supported members with national and local advertising. Our dedicated print and online Globe and Mail special feature reached an estimated 2,700,000 Canadians. Our local advertising in the GTA, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Quebec City, and Winnipeg reached an estimated 2,115,400 Canadians. Our stories were also picked up by numerous online publications, including the Huffington Post.

On social media we saw exponential growth, with our educational messages reaching an impressive two million Facebook users, generating over 15,000 new followers who are interested in learning about natural health and organics. On Twitter engagement was equally impressive, with our #NHPWeek hashtag being used over 800 times, reaching an estimated 1.8+ million. Thank you to members who connected with us on social media over NHP Week!

Together, through our multiple activities, we have made strides in raising awareness on natural health products, their benefits and the important impact they have to the seven in 10 Canadians who use them as part of their healthy lifestyle.
